Aims of this project are to:

  • Help develop a culture that makes energy waste and unacceptable activity (as is being done with water), and focuses attention on improving the productivity of energy use.
  • Encourage students to explore the variety of ways human activities are altering nature and increasing stress on ecosystem
  • Recognize how individuals can “shift to a low-carbon future in order to avoid dangerous changes to global climate”
  • Explore ways in which we can develop a personal carbon constrained lifestyle
  • Help students to realize that “protecting the climate is not costly by profitable
  • To suggest financial incentives for individuals and business

Preliminary / Possible questions for the students

  • What prevents the community from shifting to a low-carbon future to avoid changes to global climate and what could be done to provide a financial incentive?

  • What do people need to know about the problem of global warming and how should that information be presented to encourage them to develop a personal carbon constrained lifestyle?

  • Does the hole in the ozone layer pose a problem, and if so what should be done about it?
